If your site is running the Linstar – MultiPurpose WordPress Theme by King-Theme and you’ve recently updated PHP or WordPress, you may have run into fatal errors, a blank front page, or an options panel that won’t save. You’re not alone — and there’s now a free fix.

King-Theme no longer supports Linstar, and its last release, version 5.0.2, simply wasn’t built for PHP 8 or WordPress 7. Rather than leave existing Linstar owners stranded, the team at typoguard.vip has released Linstar 6.0, a fully updated, drop-in compatible edition — free of charge.

What is Linstar?

Linstar is a multipurpose theme built around a large options panel, multiple header and footer layouts, blog layouts, custom post types (Our Team, Our Works, Testimonials, FAQ, Pricing Tables), WooCommerce integration (wishlist, product compare, AJAX filter), and support for WPBakery Page Builder and LayerSlider. With its builder tools, it’s designed to scale from personal sites to full corporate portals — responsive, retina-ready, and SEO-friendly by design.

Why the Original Theme Stopped Working

The original Linstar 5.x package broke on modern software for several concrete reasons:

PHP 8: a parse error from curly-brace string offsets (removed in PHP 8.0), followed by fatal errors from split() and create_function() (both removed), old-style widget constructors, and undefined constants that PHP 8 now treats as errors.
WordPress 5.9+: an empty templates/index.html file made WordPress mistakenly detect Linstar as a block theme, causing pages to render blank.
Saving settings: the theme options panel, plus several WooCommerce and WPBakery code paths, failed outright on PHP 8.
jQuery 3: the version now bundled with WordPress 7 (3.7.1) no longer supports several functions the theme’s scripts depended on.
Because King-Theme stopped maintaining the theme, none of this was ever going to be patched upstream.

What’s Fixed in Version 6.0

The TypoGuard.vip Dev Team rebuilt the theme’s compatibility layer from the ground up:

PHP 8 compatibility — replaced removed functions, converted legacy widget constructors, fixed fatal runtime errors, and resolved deprecation warnings through PHP 8.5.
WordPress 7 compatibility — removed the file causing the block-theme misdetection, fixed Customizer and shortcode-builder errors, and repaired widget previews and menu walkers.
jQuery 3 compatibility — replaced removed jQuery methods (.live(), .size(), .andSelf(), $(window).load()) and rebuilt the options panel’s UI controls.
WooCommerce — fixed version detection (which was silently disabling WooCommerce integration on WooCommerce 10+), and updated deprecated functions across the wishlist, compare, and filter modules.
WPBakery Page Builder — removed calls to methods deprecated since WPBakery 4.7.

Everything else — the design, the options, and the theme’s features — is unchanged from Linstar 5.0.2.

Good to Know Before You Update

The bundled plugin packages (LayerSlider, WPBakery, Contact Form 7, etc.) are the original 2015–2016 versions and were NOT updated — install current versions from their own vendors instead.
The demo importer pulls sample content from King-Theme’s own servers, which may be unreliable now that the theme is unsupported.
Twitter and Flickr widgets depend on third-party feeds that have changed since 2016 and may show errors if those services are unavailable.
As with any theme update, back up your database before activating.

License & Credit

Linstar remains licensed under GPL v2 or later. King-Theme is, and remains, the original author and copyright holder of the theme; the compatibility fixes in this edition are released under the same license by the TypoGuard.vip Dev Team. This edition includes a small footer credit line linking back to typoguard.vip — this is a request for attribution, not an added license restriction, and it doesn’t limit any of the rights GPL already gives you.
